ANZ offers a range of features on children's bank accounts to help them save and bank with ease.

ANZ Access Advantage - child bank account options

If you are aged under 18 years, on application for the fee waiver, we will waive the monthly account service fee for an ANZ Access Advantage account1. This means you can make unlimited transactions at ANZ branches, ANZ ATMs and through EFTPOS, ANZ Phone Banking and ANZ Internet Banking.

ANZ Progress Saver

With an ANZ Progress Saver account, you simply make one deposit of just $10 or more and make no withdrawals in any month and you'll earn bonus interest that month!2

And if you're aged under 18 years, on application for the fee waiver your account will be free of monthly account service fees and transaction fees1.

Access to funds

For parents and guardians who are trustees of their child's bank account:

Access to funds via ANZ ATMs, ANZ Phone Banking, ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ branches (and EFTPOS on ANZ Access Advantage).

For customers aged 12 to 17 with a sole or joint account:

Access to funds via ANZ ATMs, ANZ branches, view only ANZ Internet Banking and balance enquiries via ANZ Phone Banking (and EFTPOS on ANZ Access Advantage).

Ability to deposit regular funds
Yes, for example your parent/guardian can deposit your pocket money or other income directly into your account regularly via periodical payments or recurring payments (via ANZ Internet Banking).
Fees and charges
Opening an account

If you are a parent or guardian opening an account for a child under 12 years, you will need to open the account in Trust for the child. You may choose to have full electronic access.

If you are a customer aged 12 to 17 and can sign a consistent satisfactory signature, the account can be opened in your own name or as a joint account with your parent or guardian. Otherwise, the account must be opened in Trust.

At this age you can have optional electronic access through:

  • ATMs
  • EFTPOS
  • ANZ Internet Banking (view only)
  • ANZ Phone Banking (balance enquiries).
Identification requirements

If you are a parent or guardian who is not an existing ANZ customer, you will be required to bring your own identification documents for the customer identification process plus identification for the child when opening an account:

  • for the child in trust
  • with the child as a joint account.
Acceptable forms of identification for child

If you are a customer aged under 18 years, you will be required to bring one of the following forms of identification:

  • birth certificate
  • current signed student photo ID card
  • education institution statement on letterhead with principal's signature
  • citizenship certificate
  • current passport.
