| 1. What is it? |
|---|
|
ANZ Travel Card is a reloadable prepaid Visa card available over the counter in Australia to both ANZ and non-ANZ customers. It has been specially designed to give you convenient access to your own money - in the currency of your choice - while you’re travelling. Purchase an ANZ Travel Card and you can lock in your exchange rate and load your card with one of the currencies listed below. That way, if the currency of the country you are travelling in is the same as the currency loaded on your card, you will no longer need to worry about fluctuating exchange rates while you travel. The ANZ Travel Card is PIN protected, and is accepted electronically at over 24 million locations worldwide wherever VISA is accepted – including shops, car rental companies, travel agents and Visa-enabled ATMs*. Available in 6 popular currencies:
*The Card cannot be used in countries subject to economic and/or trade sanctions. Some countries may also have government restrictions on currencies you can use. At present, the card cannot be used in Cuba, Iran Syria, Sudan, North Korea or Burma (Myanmar) but please make sure you also check with the embassy of the country you plan to visit for any restrictions that may apply.
|
| 2. How do I use it? |
|---|
|
You can use your ANZ Travel Card to withdraw cash from Visa-enabled ATMs or make purchases wherever Visa is accepted electronically. When you make a purchase with your ANZ Travel Card:
When you withdraw local cash from a Visa-enabled ATM:
Selecting the Credit ('CR') button (or the overseas equivalent) on Visa-enabled ATMs or merchant terminals gives you access via the Visa network to the stored value on your ANZ Travel Card. |
| 3. What are the benefits of the ANZ Travel Card? |
|---|
* Please note that Federal Government legislation requires ANZ to verify the identity of all ANZ Travel Card holders and, accordingly, if you are not already a current ANZ customer, you must complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process.
|
| 4. Is the ANZ Travel Card similar to a debit card? |
|---|
|
The ANZ Travel Card is similar to a debit card because the amount you can spend depends on the amount of stored value on your card. It can be used for both purchases and cash withdrawals anywhere Visa is accepted electronically, but unlike a debit card, the ANZ Travel Card is not linked to a bank account. The ANZ Travel Card is a specialised travel money product that you can load with foreign currency and convert back to Australian dollars (at the applicable exchange rate) when you complete your travels. |
| 5. How do the benefits of the ANZ Travel Card compare to Travellers Cheques? |
|---|
|
Both the ANZ Travel Card and Travellers Cheques let you lock in your exchange rate at the time of purchase. However, unlike Travellers Cheques, the ANZ Travel Card can be used at Visa-enabled ATMs worldwide, to make purchases at point-of-sale, is secured by a PIN and can be reloaded. |
| 6. How secure is my money? |
|---|
|
Your ANZ Travel Card is PIN protected (for ATM transactions and some purchases) and for security is not linked with other of your bank accounts. This means better protection of your money if your ANZ Travel Card is ever lost or stolen. You are also issued with a backup card, which has a separate PIN from your primary card. That way, if one of them is lost or stolen, you still have access to your money. |
| 7. What is the backup card for? |
|---|
|
When you purchase an ANZ Travel Card, you get two cards: a primary card and a backup card at no extra cost, for added security. If you lose your primary card while you’re overseas, you can still access your money with your backup card (which has a different PIN). The backup card is only used in the event that your original card is lost, stolen or damaged. You must not provide either your primary or backup card to any other person for their use. |
| 8. Can I use the ANZ Travel Card in countries that use a different currency to the currency on my card? |
|---|
|
You can use the ANZ Travel Card all over the world, wherever Visa is accepted electronically, to make purchases and withdraw local money regardless of what currency is stored on your ANZ Travel Card. For example, John is travelling to Thailand, he purchases a US dollar (USD) ANZ Travel Card and loads the equivalent of AUD$4000. He can withdraw Thai Baht (THB) from Visa-enabled ATMs whenever he needs local cash and can make purchases using the card. Even though the local currency (THB) is different to the currency of John’s card (USD), there is no additional ANZ fee or charge for this service on the card, however, each transaction in Thailand will be subject to an exchange rate conversion - the amount of his transaction will be converted from the local currency (THB) to the currency loaded on the ANZ Travel Card (USD) using a wholesale exchange rate selected by Visa on the day of the transaction (in addition to any other applicable fees or charges). |
| 9. How much does it cost and will I be charged for a cash withdrawal? |
|---|
|
ANZ ATM withdrawal Fees
Please note that some ATM operators may also charge you an additional fee that will be deducted from the balance on your ANZ Travel Card. Not all ATM operators advise of this additional fee or the amount of the fee before you withdraw money from their ATM. Other fees and charges may apply to your use of the ANZ Travel Card. Please refer to the ANZ Travel Card Product Disclosure Statement (PDF 228kB) for further details. |

| 16. What is the difference between my Security Code and my PIN? |
|---|
|
